1. Introduction
Wanted People UK ("WPUK") is committed to publishing accurate, lawful, and responsible content. We recognise that circumstances may change and that individuals may have legitimate grounds for requesting the review or removal of content from the platform. This document sets out the procedure for requesting content removal and for raising complaints about published material.
2. Grounds for Content Review
Content published on the WPUK platform may be reviewed and potentially removed on the following grounds:
Case Resolved
The individual has been identified, arrested, or the case has been closed by the relevant police force.
Misidentification
The individual believes they have been incorrectly identified or featured on the platform.
Inaccurate Information
The published information is factually incorrect or misleading.
Legal Restriction
A court order or legal restriction requires the removal of the content.
Law Enforcement Request
A UK police force or law enforcement agency has requested removal for operational reasons.
Data Protection Rights
The individual is exercising their rights under the UK GDPR or Data Protection Act 2018.
3. Requesting Content Removal
To request the review or removal of content, please contact us at:
complaints@wantedpeople.ukYour request should include the following information:
- Your full name and contact details
- The specific content you are requesting be reviewed or removed (including the URL or case reference if possible)
- The reason for your request (as listed in Section 2 above)
- Any supporting evidence (e.g. confirmation from the police that the case is resolved)
4. Review Process
Upon receiving a content removal or complaint request, WPUK will:
Acknowledge receipt of your request within 5 working days
Review the content in question and assess the grounds for removal
Consult with the originating law enforcement body where necessary
Provide a decision within 20 working days of receipt
5. Possible Outcomes
Following a review, the possible outcomes include:
- Full removal: The content is removed from the platform entirely
- Partial amendment: The content is updated or corrected to reflect accurate information
- No action: The content remains published because the grounds for removal are not met or the public interest in continued publication outweighs the request
6. Appeals
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your request, you may appeal by writing to appeals@wantedpeople.uk. Appeals will be reviewed by a senior member of the WPUK team who was not involved in the original decision. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if your request relates to data protection rights.
7. Good Faith Reporting
WPUK publishes all content in good faith and in the public interest. We are committed to acting promptly and fairly in response to all content removal requests and complaints. Our goal is to balance the public interest in crime prevention with the rights and dignity of individuals.
Please note that submitting false or misleading removal requests may itself constitute an offence. All requests are logged and may be shared with law enforcement where appropriate.
